Family Village - A Global Community of Disability Related Resources

National Down Syndrome Education and Research Institute - The NDSERI strives to improve the quality of education for children with Down Syndrome through professional development and curriculum materials, public speaking, and research reports.

Our-Kids Home Page- Web page devoted to children with special needs, includes reading lists, nutrition tips and more. Our-Kids is a support group for parents and others who are working with children with physical and/or mental disabilities and delays.


Disability Resources

Bandaids and Blackboards: When Chronic Illness...Or Some Other Problem...Goes to School Designed to offer the child's perspective on what growing up with medical problems is like. The first person stories of young children and teenagers with medical problems ranging from leukemia to cystic fibrosis to Crohn's disease. Also included are a hospital tour, sibling stories, and children's tips for teachers, nurses, and doctors, among many other features. Adults use the content through the site map.

Disability Resources On Line

Beacons of Excellence A research project funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of the project is to increase the understanding of how schools can improve learning results for students with disabilities, within the context of efforts to achieve exemplary results for all students.

North Rockland Special Education Parent Teacher Association maintains a website as a resource for parents, teachers and administrators of special needs children.

American Association on Mental Retardation - Home page for AAMR, the national organization for professionals and others interested in the field of mental retardation. Along with The Arc, AAMR is a founding member of the United States International Council on Developmental Disabilities.

ARC of the United States - A national organization on mental retardation.

American Physical Therapy Association - The American Physical Therapy Association is a national, professional organization representing more than 70,000 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students. APTA's goal is to foster advancement in physical therapy practice, education, and research.
