POLICY DEVELOPMENT TOPIC:

First Reading of Proposed New Board Policy IE – Elementary Class Size: The committee reviewed a proposed policy that has been discussed and reviewed by the Elementary Class Size Task Force.  The discussion was lively and included many concerns:

           Is a written policy necessary?

Recommended class size numbers as listed in the guidelines seem too high

This policy is an answer to many parents’ concerns

As written, it is not clear who creates the action plan

The committee agreed to send this policy back to the Elementary class Size Task Force to determine if the language as written is what was intended and to clarify the intent of the guidelines.
