MINUTES

POLICY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE

March 14, 2011

 

The Policy and Community Engagement Committee of the Board of Education of the School District of Jefferson met on Monday, March 14, 2011 in the Jefferson High School Library.  Acting Chairperson Pupanek called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. with Committee member Hollenberger and alternate Buth present.  Chairperson Thompson was absent.

 

Approval of February 14, 2011 Committee Minutes: A motion to approve the February 14, 2011 minutes of the Policy and Community Engagement Committee as presented was made by Mr. Hollenberger, seconded by Mr. Buth.  The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.

 

POLICY DEVELOPMENT TOPICS:

Second Reading of Handbooks: A second reading of the following handbooks took place:

 

Jefferson High School Coaches Handbook:  Mr. Wilharm noted that any revisions, changes, corrections noted at the February committee meeting will be incorporated into the handbook.  He also provided a handout from Lynn Zaspel with the most current information related to blood borne pathogens and skin infections. 

 

A motion to forward the Jefferson High School Coaches Handbook to the full board for a first reading was made by Mr. Buth, seconded by Mr. Hollenberger.  The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.

 

2011 Summer School Handbook: Mr. Howard noted that the dismissal procedures have been updated to reflect the location of classes at the Middle School and West Elementary.  He stated that building maps will be included with the registration materials.  The Summer School office will be located in the Middle School Library this year.  Registration will be available online beginning April 12, 2011. 

 

A motion to forward the 2011 Summer School Handbook as presented to the full Board for approval was made by Mr. Hollenberger, seconded by Mr. Buth.

 

Administrative Changes to Guidelines for Board Policy CBG – Evaluation of Superintendent: Committee members reviewed the revised Guidelines for Board Policy CBG – Evaluation of the Superintendent which now includes two evaluations per year.  Discussion ensued about the additional evaluation as well as the instrument used to evaluate the superintendent.  This issue will be discussed in further detail at next month’s committee meeting.

 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TOPIC(S):

Consideration for Public Tour of Construction Project: Public tours will be scheduled - but only when the conditions are safe. 

 

Discussion of Possible Topics for Future Meetings:  Superintendent evaluation

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Mr. Hollenberger, seconded by Mr. Buth. The motion passed on a voice vote.
