Kaplan Test Prep Method: Mr. Brimacombe stated that he surveyed the =
high
school staff as to the test preparation options. He did not find that there was any=
interest
in the Kaplan method which trains teachers to use the program. There is concern that this method =
is too
time-intensive.
Mr.
Brimacombe noted that the administration plans to use the ACT On-Line Prep =
program
at a cost of $1,080 per year. The
ZAPS program will also be offered for one day in March.
Preliminary EXPLOR=
E /
PLAN Results Discussion: A presentation of first semester (2010-11) =
data
from the PLAN test (10th grade) and the EXPLORE test (8th=
sup>
grade) was provided. All of t=
he
district students were involved in this testing. Mr. Nolan, Mr. Rollefson, and Mr.
Brimacombe also discussed comparative data.
The
shift to “top down” planning was explained. Currently the district is building
curriculum by looking at an exiting senior and working down through the gra=
des
to ensure a student will be successful by graduation.

Making and Evidence-Based Accountability: Mr. Nolan led a discussion on the as=
sessment
and accountability systems in the district, as well as how the new Course W=
ork
Completion System data that will soon become part of the process will be
utilized. He emphasized that =
the
district should be better able to asses whether graduates will have the ski=
lls
necessary to compete and graduate from college.
